There are a few different reasons your heatsink fan might be a bit noisy.
Some of the most common include:
- age
- dust
- dirt
- size of fan
Okay, according to how long you have had your computer and many hours you use the computer, the heatsink fan is constantly running in order to keep the processor cool. If the heatsink fan quits working, it will burn up your processor in a matter of minutes if your computer does not shut down.
The heatsink fan can become noisy as a lot of usage over time. All parts wear out! Dust and dirt does accumulate on the fan and can cause them to become noisy. It has been proven that large slower running fans make less noisy.
Ways you might be able to improve the noise until you wish to replace the heatsink fan is by cleaning the dust and dirt from the fan.
You can use a solvent such as
- WD40
- Light machine oil
- AC90
All of these will clean the dirt and grime off your fan blades and aid in making the fan last a bit longer.
